Explore the beaches of the Languedoc
There are many miles of beautiful, un-crowded beaches to explore along the Côte Vermeille – from the sandy beaches of Le Barcarès to the craggy coves between Collioure and the Spanish border.
The nearest beach is Canet Plage – a long beach of soft golden sand with all the usual tourist attractions.
Our favourite is Le Racou, a smaller, unspoilt beach with a back-drop of the Alberes. In the slide selection below you can see some shots taken along the coast including Collioure, Le Racou and the marina at Port Argelès.
If you enjoy coastal walks, we particularly recommend the walk from Collioure to Port Argeles (with the possibility of making the return trip by water taxi during the summer season), or the stunning cliff-top walk from the lighthouse at Cap Leucate to the famous wind-surfers’ paradise of La Franqui.
