Markets
Markets are a regular feature of village life and you will find a mouth-watering selection of locally grown olives, fruit and vegetables, along with other local produce such as honey, meats, cheeses, pottery and craft stalls.
Vernet les Bains: Our nearest regular market: Monday, Thursday and Saturday mornings.
Prades: This is the largest local market and takes place every Tuesday morning all year round. It offers a huge selection of local produce. there is also a Farmers’ Market and Antiques Market on Saturdays throughout the summer.
Rotjà Vallée Gourmande – Petit marché du jeudi soir
The “little market of Thursday evening” takes place between 5pm and 8pm every Thursday throughout July, August and most of September.
The market is made up entirely of producers and artisans from our valley – the Rotja Valley – and is often a lively event with musicians, dancing and other animations to enjoy.
The market alternates between Sahorre, Fuilla, Py, Escaro and Mantet.
Music Festival
This world-renowned music festival was founded in 1950 by the famous Catalan cellist, Pablo Casals and takes place every year throughout July and August. The event attracts world-class musicians and includes a series of concerts taking place in and around Prades. The concerts feature a wide range of chamber music including both classical and contemporary work.
Most of the concerts are held in the beautiful Abbey St Michel du Cuxa, but throughout the festival there are also concerts held in many village churches around the Prades area giving a unique and intimate atmosphere. Other notable venues include the Abbey Saint Martin du Canigou and the Grandes Canalettes Caves of Corneilla de Conflent. Click here to see full details of the exciting and wide-ranging programme.
