Our Location
We are located in the Languedoc-Rousillon region of south-west France, half-way between the beautiful ski resorts ofAndorra and the mediterranean coastline of the Cote Vermeille. Less than 45 minutes from either the nearest beaches or ski resorts.
The historical spa town of Vernet les Bains is less than 2 miles away and offers a variety of shops and restaurants.
How to get to La Chataigneraie
By air from the UK
The nearest airport is Perpignan, just a 45 minute drive away with flights by:
- Ryanair (from Stansted)
- FlyBe (from Birmingham and Southampton)
- Air France (from Heathrow via Paris)

By road from Perpignan
- Take the N116 towards Andorra and Prades, continue on to Villefranche de Conflent
- Take the first exit at the roundabout in Villfranche (Andorra) then take first left, D6, towards Sahorre
- Follow the D6 through Fuilla (Bas, Milieu & Haut) – after you leave Fuilla, looking left you can see us on the opposite side of the valley
- Follow the D6 through Sahorre and you will find La Châtaigneraie on your left, opposite the Musée de la Mine, just after you leave the village

By rail
- If you want to bring your own mountain bikes, or prefer not to fly, it is just 8 hours from London St Pancras to Perpignan (Eurostar, changing in Paris to TGV)
- Local train from Perpignan to Villefranche de Conflent
- For a small charge, we will collect you, your luggage and bikes
La Chataigneraie is a unique place. I just have to think of it and I am transported back to the patio, sitting at the table with a glass of wine, looking out over the valley and hearing only the sound of distant cowbells. It is a wonderful spot.
